Overview

Located less than 10 miles from the Quartzsite LTVA South entrance the Arizona Bedrock Gold 014 Unpatented Federal Placer Mining Claim is a 20.00 acre claim located in the past producing Gold, Tungsten, Silver, Copper, Garnet, and Tourmaline area known as the Livingston mine area.

The Livingston mine area has seen some small scale placer mining activities, but the majority of work done in the area has been lode mines.  The claim features numerous high bench placer deposits and one main dry wash with a few small side washes flowing into the main wash.  Exposed Quartz veins and large volumes of Quartz float is extremely evident on the claim.

Bedrock outcrops are very common within the main wash.  This claim would need to be metal detected, dry washed, or have a closed loop wet recovery sluicing system as there is no water onsite.

Overburden is relatively minimal on this claim with a few larger boulders and only a few feet of overburden build up between exposed bedrock outcroppings.  The deeper overburden has an inferred probable depth of a maximum of 10 feet with the average being approximately 4-5 feet in depth.

Additionally, with be so close to the lode source there are numerous small washes that have exposed bedrock and alluvial materials that are located directly up against the main quartz vein systems.  These small and washes would be great for dry washing and crevicing as there is very low amounts to no overburden depending upon the particular wash.

History

The mining district is known for numerous mines dating back as early as the 1942.  Both lode and placer mining took place in the area and is evidenced by many old mine shafts dotting the surrounding hillsides.  Placer gold was also mined within the district, however due to a lack of technology in dry desert gold recovery during the 1800's the old timers left plenty of gold in the ground.  The claim was not mined on a large scale as their is little evidence of surface disturbance in the dry washes in addition to over 100 additionally years of erosion and weathering during the monsoon season since the old time miners were active in the area.  This lends to fresh gold being deposited within the timeframe of the late 1942 to present day.

Topography

The claim features steep mountain sides that range from 300-400 vertical feet from the North floor.  There is one main wash running thru the claim and two bench deposits that are flat and have a lack of brushy overgrowth which is great for swinging larger metal detector coils.  Additionally, there are small dry channels that sit directly below Quartz vein structures that would be well worth the time to dry wash and crevice.

Quartzsite Arizona General Information
Located in SW Arizona Quartzsite is a town of 1,745 full time residents and provides a haven from cold/snowy weather during the winter that attracts 750,000 RV campers seeking warm weather fun.  The town hosts numerous RV and Gem shows during the year.  To accommodate the influx of people their are 52 RV parks located in and around Quartzsite.  Additionally, the BLM has recognized the need for long term dispersed camping and has created numerous LTVA's that cover 11,400 acres around Quarstzite, a season permit to stay within the LTVA area is 180 USD and is valid for 7 months.  The LTVA's have dump locations for grey and black water, and fresh water fill up stations.  Finally, numerous larger towns exist approximately 30 miles east and west of Quartzsite that hold big box stores and large grocery stores.

The greater Quartzsite area is home to excellent recreational opportunities outside the scope of gold prospecting including an expansive trail system for hiking, and ATV/UTV recreation.

Access

Pickup Truck/ATV accessible via dirt BLM road system.  Of all of my current holdings in Arizona the Arizona Bedrock Gold 013,014,015,016 Placer claims have the best access.  Standard 4WD pickup truck access is doable as the roads are relatively flat and well traveled from the Quartzsite LTVA South entrance.  No big mountains or long rocky washes to traverse.

It is always recommended to carry spare tires, tire patching and re-inflating equipment, a personal SOS device, GPS, and to tell someone where you are going and when you will be back.

Access from the LTVA South entrance is via the New Water Mountain RD and numerous documented spur trails run thru the claims off the the main access RD so you are able to easily access many parts of the claim.  This is especially important if you are bringing larger heavy mining equipment to the site such as dry washers.

Camping

Camping is allowed on the claim for up to 14 continuous days.  There is a signifcant flat located on the claim that is perfect for camping.  At the time of survey I was able to get two solid bars of cell service via Verizon on the claim with three bars of service at the surrounding ridges.

Additionally, with the LTVA South being so close it would be easy to commute back in forth if you would like to setup a base camp at the LTVA for extended stays.
