Overview

Just Northeast of the Quartzsite LTVA south, the Arizona Bedrock Gold 004 Placer claim is located in the Dripping Springs area.  A popular 4WD/UTV destination within the 4 wheel drive community, the claim sits along the main Dripping Springs loop.

Featuring exposed bedrock outcrops filled with parallel and perpendicular cracks within the secondary tributary wash that drains past producing gold bearing Quartz Reefs and mineralized vein structures.  The secondary tributary wash flows into the main Dripping Springs Wash that is also the access trail to the claim.

The main wash consists of deeper bedrock formations and overburden as deep as 15-17 feet deep with the probable average overburden depth of 6-10 feet.  Of course there are still areas in the main wash where the bedrock does show surface expression.

Quartz veins and Quartz stock works run thru the claim on a NW trend and dip steeply.  The Arizona Geological Survey has designated this Section as a High Mineral Potential Zone.  Numerous large placer acreage holders surround this claim as the placer claims are extremely competitive in this district.

The secondary tribuatary wash has a very exposed bedrock presence with signifcant bedrock/country rock abutment about 100 yards up the wash.  Above this abutment lies more unconsolidated alluvial material that is fanned out and mostly disseminated.

At time of survey, the material was to wet to run thru a dry washer, as such some of the exposed bedrock features were tested with a MineLab Gold Monster 1000 with 6 inch DD coil and 2 crevices were thoroughly cleaned out with the crevice material brought back to the shop for further testing across a closed circuit RP4 shaker table.

The reason this claim is priced lower than the Arizona Bedrock Gold 001 & 002 Placer claims is that this claim takes a few extra miles to access and the last few miles are directly up the wash that holds unconsolidated gravel/sand with ruts, tight corners, large boulders, and exposed bedrock ledges to navigate.

History

The mining district is known for numerous gold mines dating back as early as the 1800's.  Both lode and placer mining took place in the area and is evidenced by many old mine shafts dotting the surrounding hillsides.  Placer gold was also mined within the district, however due to a lack of technology in dry desert gold recovery during the 1800's the old timers left plenty of gold in the ground.  The claim was not mined on a large scale as their is little evidence of surface disturbance in the dry washes in addition to over 100 additionally years of erosion and weathering during the monsoon season since the old time miners were active in the area.  This lends to fresh gold being deposited within the timeframe of the late 1800's to present day.

Topography

The claim features steep mountain sides that range from 200-300 vertical feet from both sides of the main wash.

Quartzsite Arizona General Information
Located in SW Arizona Quartzsite is a town of 1,745 full time residents and provides a haven from cold/snowy weather during the winter that attracts 750,000 RV campers seeking warm weather fun.  The town hosts numerous RV and Gem shows during the year.  To accommodate the influx of people their are 52 RV parks located in and around Quartzsite.  Additionally, the BLM has recognized the need for long term dispersed camping and has created numerous LTVA's that cover 11,400 acres around Quarstzite, a season permit to stay within the LTVA area is 180 USD and is valid for 7 months.  The LTVA's have dump locations for great and black water, and fresh water fill up stations.  Finally, numerous larger towns exist approximately 30 miles east and west of Quartzsite that hold big box stores and large grocery stores.

The greater Quartzsite area is home to excellent recreational opportunities outside the scope of gold prospecting including an expansive trail system for hiking, and ATV/UTV recreation.

Access

High clearance 4WD or an ATV is needed to access the claim.  Although less than 7 miles as the crow flies from the Southern LTVA camping area, numerous 4WD trails are needed to access the claim that extend the journey to approximately 13 miles via the trail system.  Open benches, short steep dry washes need to be crossed and the final access leg to the claim is up a dry stream bed with loose sand, ruts and small bedrock obstacles to navigate over.

At the time of survey I was able to access the claim via ATV pulling a trailer without issue.  The roads are popular with the UTV/ATV community and off-road truck/jeep groups.

It is always recommended to carry spare tires, tire patching and reinflating equipment, a personal SOS device, GPS, and to tell someone where you are going and when you will be back.  Verizon cellular coverage on the claim was primarily one bar and occasionally two bars on the higher points of the claim.

Access from the LTVA South entrance is via the New Water Mountain RD and then onto the Dripping Springs Southern Loop, numerous documented spur trails run thru the claims off the Dripping Springs Southern Loop so you are able to easily access many parts of the claim.  This is especially important if you are bringing larger heavy mining equipment to the site such as dry washers.

Camping

Camping is allowed on the claim for up to 14 continuous days.  Additionally, with the LTVA South being so close it would be easy to commute back in forth if you would like to setup a base camp at the LTVA for extended stays.
