Overview
 One 50 foot shaft, numerous smaller shafts, several trenches, and significant dump piles on this claim. The dump piles will take years of mining to work thru the large volume of runnable material.

This mine and the underlying Black Hawk vein system have been well documented since the initial discovery in the late 1800's.  The mining district is responsible for producing approximately 600,000 USD worth of salable minerals.

  The Marie Vein Au Lode Claim is located approximately 25 miles south of the town of Deming and 8 miles Northwest from the town of Columbus.

​​

This mine has been assayed with 12 Au/Ag assays and produced an average ore grade of xxx gold and xxx in silver. 

Additionally, the precious metals are also associated with plenty of manganese, lead, zinc, and copper to add additional revenue per ton of material processed.

Geology

Located on the Black Hawk vein the Marie mine has a vein width of approximately 4 feet and is comprised of numerous closely spaced veinlets instead of one main zone.  Galena, sphalerite, and pyrite are the principle sulfides that are accompanied by considerable quartz and calcite,  Gold and silver are present within the veins.  Minor argillic alteration extends several inches to several feet outward from the vein into the wall rock.

Surface outcrops our highly oxidized and are the usual assemblage of oxidized lead and zinc minerals with considerable limonite and manganese oxide.

Workings reported in 1961 consisted of a 400 foot main ashaft and numerous shallow shafts, pits, and tenches

Numerous hard rock mines have operated in close proximity to this placer claim including the Hancock, Cincinnati, Black Hawk Vein, and many other unlisted mine shafts and prospects.

Permits are easy to acquire and generally only necessary if you use mechanized equipment, or need to camp in one spot more than 14 days per month.  New Mexico is a very mining friendly state for both lode and placer miners alike.

Camping

Dispersed Camping is allowed on this claim.  There are numerous alternative dispersed camping areas within a half mile radius of this claim.  Additionally, the town of Deming is located 25 miles away and the down of Columbus is located 8 miles away.

Access

As of February/March 2024 the road has been updated to provide better access from the town of Chloride into the the claim.  A pickup truck or similar SUV is recommended as the road conditions are constantly changing.  There is parking available in Chloride for truck/trailer combinations and lower clearance vehicles. 

With a pickup truck / similar SUV you can access the claims without problem and the access road parallels the creek wash making for creekside on claim parking with numerous small dispersed campsites located on the claim.
