Overview:
Gallinas Canyon #3 is both a wet placer operation and dry placer operation. The creek flows steady through this location at the time of location and there is a very large dry wash full of rounded stones, gravel, and dirt coming down into the stream bed. Upon sampling both the dry and wet ore bodies contained gold.
This claim is well suited to a a prospector who wants both a wet placer operation and a dry placer operation. Having both options available on the same claim gives the claim owner great flexibility.
Additionally, due to the shallow bedrock on the West side of the creek metal detecting and crevice picking are unique options.
Near to NW corner of the claim there is a free camping area with fire rings, picnic tables, bear proof trash containers, and restrooms all situated under old growth pine trees next to the claim.
Access:
All low clearance 2WD access, along RD 152 which is paved. The closest decent town is Silver City. Camping locations can be had on the Upper Gallinas camp area or the lower Gallinas Camp area for free.
