Overview

Featuring 1,320 feet of flowing stream situated in the valley of Quartz creek.  Upstream from the claim hosts Cumberland pass and numerous hard rock mines that are chasing the source of the alluvial placer gold found deposited in Quartz Creek.

Competition

The area is extremely competitive for claims and Gunnison Gold Prospecting currently holds the only two placer claims for sale in the entire Quartz creek valley.

Camping

Camping is allowed on the claim for up to 14 days contagious per month and the camping area is located directly creekside in the center of the claim.

Access

Is by Forest Service RD 765 and is 2WD passable.  From the claim you have easy access to the town of Pitkin, Cumberland Pass, and the Town of Tincup.

Features

The stream is narrow and fast flowing.  Average width 10 to 20 feet, with rounded river rock and a few larger boulders found on the claim.  The west side of the claim has numerous beached gravel bars that are located right on the country rock.

In addition, on the east side of the claim near the camping area beavers have built numerous ponds adjacent to the following stream.  This is a great starting point for any type of floating gold mining equipment such as a suction dredge as the water is deep and allows ample room for discharge of overburden material.
