Overview
A rarity to find in the modern era of prospecting.  Located deep in the Carson National Forest the Kyanite Outcrop 001 Lode covers 20.66 acres of a known Kyanite Gemstone deposit.  Featuring blue, gray, and iron colored kyanite intermixed within a sizeable outcrop of granite.
Mining can be done with simple rock hammer and chisel as the sheer volume of Kyanite creates a great location to extract this valuable mineral.  Fresh Kyanite can be chipped from the outcrop or there are several small tailings piles left over from the 1940's era miners to pick thru.
The claim features one 128 foot deep incline shaft and several pits, open cuts, and outcrops still containing Kyanite.
The benefit to mining is New Mexico is of course the mining friendly regulations and relatively cool summer mining season.  Add in a long 6 month mining season and this claim is the pefect mining getaway.
Geology
Irregular masses of Kyanite, Quartz rock enclosed within host rock.  Samples contain 31.6% AL2O3 and samples of host rock contain about 19% AL203.
The deposit consists of 3 large and eight small pods of Kyanite bearing rock ranging from 15 to 130 feet long and 10 to 110 feet high with thickness ranging from 12 to 60 feet.
