Placer & Lode

Gunnison Gold Prospecting Company has located fantastic mines in the Heart of the Rocky Mountains surrounding Tincup Colorado, all claims are 2wd accessible and boast ample camping locations for the whole family.  ATV and hiking trails abound with the historic and quaint town of Tincup less than a mile from all claims.  The town boasts a general store and fantastic rustic restaurant.  A quick 10 min drive give you access to mirror lake, top of Cumberland Pass and Taylor Lake.

With over 50 mines upstream dating back to the 1890's the creeks below these mines are prime locations for placer mining both on small and large scale operations.  Panning reveals fine grained gold and silver and nuggets of approximately 1/8 to 1/4 ounce have been found on the adjoining claims with high bankers.

The Adobe Longhorn mine was a major producer in the district with the surface ore piles yielding 1/4 to 3/8 ounce per ton on average with some assays over 1/2 ounces per ton.
