Overview
Enjoy a year round mining season on the Marie Gold Flats 001 Placer Claim.  Located directly against the main lode source this claim features a large wash containing gold, silver, copper, lead, manganese, and zinc.  A dry washer and metal detector is recommended for this claim.

This claim features easy access via dirt BLM road and dispersed camping location.  The minerals found are generally in the fine to flake form with some larger pieces found on the exposed bedrock portions of the claim.

​

Portions of bedrock are exposed with a relatively shallow depth to bedrock on the deeper portions of the claim of approximately 4 feet.  The bedrock is extremely wavy which creates a great mineral trap for higher concentrations of mineral to be deposited within the cracks and crevices of the bedrock.

Geology

Various concentrations of As, Au, Ba, Be, Co, Cd, La, Mn, Mo, Sb, Th, Ti, Y, and Zn are found within stream sediment samples from the area.

Numerous hard rock mines have operated in close proximity to this placer claim including the Marie, Cincinnati, and other unlisted mine shafts and prospect pits. 

​

Permits are easy to acquire and generally only necessary if you use mechanized equipment, or need to camp in one spot more than 14 days per month.  New Mexico is a very mining friendly state for both lode and placer miners alike.

Camping

Dispersed Camping is allowed on this claim.  There are numerous alternative dispersed camping areas within a half mile radius of this claim.  Additionally, the town of Chloride located less than 7 miles away and has a small RV park in the historic ghost town of Chloride, New Mexico outfitted with primitive or powered RV campsites.

Access

As of February/March 2024 the road has been updated to provide better access from the town of Chloride into the the claim.  A pickup truck or similar SUV is recommended as the road conditions are constantly changing.  There is parking available in Chloride for truck/trailer combinations and lower clearance vehicles. 

 

With a pickup truck / similar SUV you can access the claims without problem and the access road parallels the creek wash making for creekside on claim parking with numerous small dispersed campsites located on the claim.

Tres Hermanas General Area Info

The Tre Hermanas mining district is an easily accessible mineral field located approximately 25 miles due south of deming.  The area boasts warm winters and gives prospectors a year round climate to work the claim.  Originally discovered in the late 1800's the area has hosted mostly lode mining ventures along a NE/SW striking A vein system and a N/S striking B vein system.
