Overview
Located on the past gold producing Lottis Creek the Union Park Gold 008 Placer Claim is both easily accessible, remote, and ready to be dredged for gold!

 

The claim features a year round flowing stream capable of floating a 4 inch size dredge on the creek all season long.  Numerous side channels and eddy systems have helped to divert portions of the stream away from the fast flowing main channel creating ideal slack water areas and numerous sharp bends in turns in the stream for gold to be concentrated.

Dredging

The Union Park Gold 008 Placer Claim is one of the few claims in my inventory that have to constant water flow and stream width necessary to float a larger dredge.  A 2" to 4" dredge is recommended for this claim dependent upon the clients goals, number of dredgers, and timeline.

​

Any volume of dredging with an intake over 2" in size or continuous occupation of the claim for the dredging season will require a Plan Of Operations. 

​

The claim is situated right next to a Forest Service Road that makes access easy with SUV/Truck.  Additionally, the creek is just a short distance from the road.

Camping

Dispersed Camping is allowed on the claim for up to 14 continuous days.

History
Upstream from the claim lies numerous small hard rock mines and prospects that were developed in the late 1800's chasing Quartz vein structures within the Sawatch Quartzsite. These mines and supporting geologic formations are believed to be the source of the alluvial gold found on the claim.

Access
4WD pickup truck or UTV/ATV accessible via dirt Forest Service RD approximately 15 miles from the town of Tincup.  The Forest Service RD goes adjacent to the claim making it easier to launch a dredge into the stream without the need for long hikes and carrying equipment great distances.  The town of Tincup is located about 60 minutes from the town of Gunnison, Colorado.  With access to the town/claim from Gunnison being via Almont Canyon.

 

The claim is at around 10,00 feet above sea level and the accessible mining season generally runs from May - October depending upon snow conditions.  From November to April the claim is only accessible via snow machine.

Tincup General Area Info

The Tincup area is great for a summer getaway.  Quality dispersed camping sites are found in the general area that can accommodate a large fifth wheel and all your toys.  Taylor Res is located about 10 miles downstream and hosts great fishing and water recreation during the summer.  

There is a restaurant in Tincup that is open during the summer.  ATV & UTV riding is extremely popular with a large amount of trails active in the region.

 

Mirror lake is also close by for further water sport and hiking activities.  

 

Taylor River is a great designated trout fishing stream with miles of open creek access.
