The Prospectors Gulch 012 Unpatented Placer Claim is located in the gold bearing Texas Creek drainage.
Texas Creek is a known gold bearing stream with lode deposits upstream hosting primarily gold and some silver values. The gold on this claim is fine to flake gold unless directly on or near the bedrock contact.
Fine gold can be found 3 feet down in the sedimentation layer with an increase in overall gold quantity deeper in the sedimentation layer profile.
Silver is found in about a 5 to 1 ratio with gold on this claim.
This claim is located about 11 miles from the Taylor Park Trading Post. The road access to the claim would be recommended for high clearance pickup trucks or UTV/ATV access. This rugged road prohibits most common vehicle access to the claim area.
Camping
Dispersed Camping is allowed just North of the claim boundary line. There are dispersed camping areas South of the claim that are more suited to RV style camping. You may camp in a designated dispersed camping area for up to 14 continuous days.
History
The bottom bottom mile of Texas Creek where it flows in Taylor Res has had significant mining via hydraulic mining. This claim is above the old workings by several miles.

This claim is accessible via dirt Forest Service RD approximately 10 miles from the Taylor Trading Post.
The town of Tincup is located about 60 minutes from the town of Gunnison, Colorado. With access to the town/claim from Gunnison being via Almont Canyon.
The claim is at around 10,00 feet above sea level and the accessible mining season generally runs from May - October depending upon snow conditions. From November to April the claim is only accessible via snow machine.

Tincup General Area Info
The Tincup area is great for a summer getaway. Quality dispersed camping sites are found in the general area that can accommodate a large fifth wheel and all your toys. Taylor Res is located about 10 miles downstream and hosts great fishing and water recreation during the summer.
There is a restaurant in Tincup that is open during the summer. ATV & UTV riding is extremely popular with a large amount of trails active in the region.
Mirror lake is also close by for further water sport and hiking activities.
Taylor River is a great designated trout fishing stream with miles of open creek access.
