Overview
The Porcupine Gulch Gold 001 is a 20.00 Acre Unpatented Placer Mining claim located in the Tincup mining District of Gunnison, County Colorado.

Featuring quality fine gold deposits to small nuggets, high bench deposits, an old miners cabin, secluded creek, camping onsite, and old workings on part of the claim dating back to the late 1800's.

Features
This claim has a mix of both shallow wide flowing stream features and also narrow, twisting and deep stream features.  There are historic workings on the claim estimated to be 100 yards long in two different locations on the claim adjacent to the remnants of an old miners cabin.

Two placer benches are also located on the claim above the flowing stream on both the west and east side of the creek.  Additionally, multiple test pits were located and the area has evidence of glacial activity located within the claim.  The claim is 660 feet wide and 1,320 feet long with an acreage size of exactly 20.00 acres.

With being so close to the headwaters of the Porcupine Gulch that is a known area of alluvial placer gold deposition the creek had been diverted in the late 1800's early 1900's to miners with pick and shovel could access approximately 200 yards of gold bearing gravels.  Testing revealed fine gold left behind underneath the old workings.

History
Close upstream from the Porcupine Gulch Gold 001 Placer Claim lies numerous hard rock mines that were developed in the late 1800's.  This hard rock mining zone of mineralization is believed to be the main source of the gold deposition found on Porcupine Gulch Gold 001, additional gold reefs were also located outside of the main mineralization zone further depositing additional gold values on the Porcupine Gulch Gold 001.

Downstream from the claim lies a gold dredge that was working its way up Willow Creek to the The dredge never made it up to the claim leaving the Porcupine Gulch Gold 001 untouched by the dredge.

The dredge was stopped due to the crash of precious metals prices and rampant gold theft by the dredge workers.
